Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Abdel Razek al-Nadori arrived in Tripoli to attend a meeting of the 5+5 joint military committee. The plane of envoy Khalifa Haftar landed at Mitiga airport, Turkish Anadolu agency writes.
According to the newspaper, al-Nadori is expected to take part in a meeting of the 5 + 5 joint military committee under the auspices of the UN, during which he will hold talks with the Chief of the Libyan General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad. The meeting will be held in the presence of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Batili.
The article says that in mid-March, Batili called on the parties to start discussions as soon as possible regarding the unification of Libya's military institutions. This, according to the UN representative, will create conditions for holding elections in the country, which will put an end to the instability that began in 2011.
The 5+5 Joint Military Committee is composed of five members from the Libyan government's armed forces in the west of the country and five representatives from Haftar's forces in the east.
The committee has been meeting for the past two years under the auspices of the UN to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire and ultimately to negotiate the unification of the armed forces in Libya, ending the civil war.
