Medvedev spoke about the increase in the size of the Russian Armed Forces
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the increase in the size of the Russian Armed Forces. He named the number of troops needed to maintain the country's defense capability.
Medvedev made his statement during an interview with representatives of leading Russian media.
The Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation believes that in order to protect its borders, Russia needs a mixed Armed Forces, consisting of both conscripts and contract soldiers.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke in favor of increasing the size of the Russian army to one and a half million people. He also announced plans to recruit nearly 700 contract soldiers into the army.
