An American observer wrote about the lack of modern equipment in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the spring counteroffensive
On the eve of the announced spring counter-offensive, the armed forces of Ukraine do not have enough weapons and military equipment to carry it out. This was written by Newsweek columnist Michael Vasiura.
The author of the publication notes that the counteroffensive will be successful if weapons and military equipment are delivered in a shorter time. Right now, military aid packages are moving slowly. Quite impressive time intervals are maintained between the deliveries of Western weapons.
According to Vasyura, this situation entails a shortage of the necessary military equipment, weapons and ammunition at the front. This, in turn, becomes a brake on the Ukrainian armed forces. The needs of the Ukrainian army for weapons and the real situation with the supply of Western equipment are very different.
Meanwhile, with the available military equipment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are unlikely to be able to organize a large-scale counteroffensive, especially in several directions at once. However, regardless of the presence or absence of the proper amount of equipment at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian armed forces are preparing to meet and repel the upcoming attacks of Ukrainian formations.
According to Western analysts, the most likely attempt is to break through the Russian defenses in the Zaporozhye region, in order to cut the land corridor to the Crimea. Another question is that the Russian troops deployed in the region are already ready for such a development of events and will give a proper rebuff in the event of a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
