In the area of the contact line, a Swiss-made Eagle I armored car with the symbols of the Armed Forces of Ukraine applied to it
Switzerland intends to conduct an investigation into the entry of a Swiss-made Eagle I armored car into Ukraine. According to the publication Neue Zurcher Zeitung, this armored vehicle was seen near the front line in the Donbass.
The Swiss-made Eagle I armored car with the symbols of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the form of a white cross applied to it was seen near the city of Chasov Yar near Artemovsk (Bakhmut). Also, this armored car, and possibly the second of this brand, hit the photographer's lens in the Avdiivka area. At the moment, no one can say whether this car is the only one, or whether there are several of them in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Switzerland intends to conduct its own investigation and find out how a Swiss-made armored car or armored cars could get to Ukraine when, due to its neutrality, Switzerland refuses to supply equipment and weapons to the warring parties. In general, Bern did not give permission for the supply of such armored cars to Kyiv. Nevertheless, one such armored car rides on the line of contact in the Donbass.
MOWAG Eagle is a Swiss 4x4 armored vehicle. In Ukraine, an armored car of the first generation Eagle I based on the American armored car HMMWV was spotted. This version entered service with the Swiss army, was transferred to the UN for peacekeeping missions, and was also purchased by Denmark. Until 2008, 36 such armored cars were in service with the Danish army. At the moment, no one has admitted that he transferred his equipment to the Ukrainian army, although a variant with Germany is possible, since in 2017 one of the German companies bought 27 of these armored cars from Denmark. The Swiss State Secretariat for Economics (SECO) promised to look into this situation in the near future and give a legal assessment.
