Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Golubtsov: The sooner the West supplies modern fighters, the sooner Ukraine will win
36
Ukraine urgently needs new multi-role fighters capable of performing a wide range of tasks. This was stated by the head of the Air Force of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Sergei Golubtsov.
The sooner Ukraine gets modern multirole fighter jets, the sooner it will defeat Russia in this conflict. According to Golubtsov, we are not talking about any specific models, as long as the characteristics of these aircraft are close to the American F-16. As the brigadier general emphasized, at present the West has supplied Ukraine with a large number of air defense systems, so new fighters can be based on Ukrainian airfields, out of reach of Russian aircraft and missiles.
Now we are not talking about a specific type, but focusing on technical characteristics. We are considering aircraft that can use the same ammunition and have the same characteristics as, say, the F-16
Golubtsov said.
The general is sure that the Ukrainian pilots, who allegedly managed to "fight on equal terms" with modern Russian fighters on obsolete Soviet aircraft, will generally "work miracles" on Western aircraft, it remains only to get these same aircraft and the sooner the better. Speaking about the training of Ukrainian pilots, Golubtsov stressed that retraining would take no more than six months, this was shown by the testing of two pilots of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on American simulators in the United States.
(...) our allies could understand how quickly Ukrainian pilots would be able to master modern combat aircraft, including the F-16. and there are good news: the period of retraining of our pilots for western fighters may be less than six months
- he added.
