At the briefing, there was a conflict between the press secretary of the White House and an African journalist
During the briefing for the press, which is part of the White House pool, there was a skirmish between the press secretary of the US government, Karine Jean-Pierre, and the journalists present at the event.
African journalist Simon Ateba reproached the head of the White House press service for ignoring his questions, after which American colleagues from major news agencies CNN, Reuters and AP literally attacked him.
Ateba accused Jean-Pierre of violating the First Amendment in the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech. According to the African journalist, he has not been given the floor for seven months.
Ateba:
American colleagues not only did not support the African journalist in any way, but also attacked him with accusations that he was using the time allotted for holding a press conference unproductively with his reproaches. Representatives of American news agencies advised Atebe to contact the White House representative after the event.
Karine Jean-Pierre interrupted the skirmish between the press, calling the incident "unacceptable" and offering to end the briefing ahead of schedule.
What happened once again demonstrates the existing "freedom of speech" in the United States and supposedly equal conditions for all journalists.
