German Chancellor: Even if the armed conflict in Ukraine ends, everything will not suddenly become the same as it was before
While on a working visit to Dusseldorf, the German Chancellor made another statement on Ukraine. Echoing what is becoming a kind of neo-liberal Western mantra about supporting Kyiv, Olaf Scholz commented on the possible development of the Ukrainian conflict.
According to the German Chancellor, we need to tune in to the fact that even if the war in Ukraine ends, everything will not suddenly become the same as it was before it.
Scholz:
According to Scholz, the events in Ukraine will concern Europe for a long time to come.
Chancellor of Germany:
Scholz then moved on to how he sees the future of Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine must "remain integral and independent."
This statement sounded especially ridiculous against the backdrop of yesterday's statement made in Washington about Serbia. There, commenting on the agreements between Belgrade and Pristina, they said that "now it is extremely important that Belgrade follow the democratic path."
It turns out that in the case of Serbia, territorial integrity is not particularly important - it is enough to “be in line with democracy”, moreover, in the way the West, led by the United States, understands it.
Returning to Scholz's speech in Düsseldorf, it is worth adding that, according to him, the main thing for Germany now is "not to act lightly on the conflict in Ukraine." This statement in Germany itself was regarded as a readiness to follow the path of increasing military spending. Recall that earlier in NATO, some officials said about the "insufficiency of military spending at the level of 2 percent of GDP." Germany still falls short of 2%, which irritates the US.
