A meeting of the Synod of the UOC takes place in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, at which the ultimatum of the Kyiv regime is also considered
A meeting of the Synod of the UOC is taking place in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. During the meeting, the issue related to the demand of the Church by the Ukrainian authorities to leave the Lavra before the end of this month will be considered.
Here is how the head of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC Clement commented on what was happening:
The message of the UOC also says that at today's meeting, the bishops will consider current issues from the life of the Church.
Recall that the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve on March 10 ordered the monks of the canonical UOC to leave the buildings, which he owns, until March 29. The reason for the accusation, according to representatives who were part of the Ukrainian interdepartmental working group associated with the activities of religious organizations, allegedly was the violation by the monastery of the terms of the agreement on the use of state property. It is also noteworthy that no details of the violations were presented by the commission, while the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko completely put the monks of the UOC before a choice: if they wish to continue serving in the Church, this will be possible only on condition their transition to the schismatic OCU.
In this context, it is worth noting that the monks resolutely refuse to leave the Lavra, because, according to them, there are no legal grounds for this. Today, the UOC is considered the only recognized canonical church in Ukraine since 1990, which is part of the ROC on the rights of wide autonomy. True, the UOC itself stated that it had long since severed ties with the Moscow Patriarchate.
