The European Union intends to approve the Borrell plan to allocate 2 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of ammunition
The European Union will allocate 2 billion euros from the European Peace Fund for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. The proposal to expand military assistance to Kiev, made by the head of the EU foreign service, Josep Borrell, will be discussed today, March 20, by the ministers of defense and foreign affairs of the countries that are members of the European Union. This was announced by a source in the EU foreign policy service.
Europe intends to increase military assistance to Kyiv up to 2 billion euros, which will be used to purchase ammunition. It is proposed to spend one billion directly on the purchase of shells for both Soviet and Western-style guns, and to use the second billion for the production of ammunition in the long term by building factories for the production of ammunition.
- said the source.
At the same time, in Kyiv they demand to buy ammunition as soon as possible and supply it to the Ukrainian army, as the Armed Forces of Ukraine "are suffocating without shells." The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Kuleba, travels around Europe with outstretched hands, giving interviews to foreign publications, not forgetting to repeat in each that Kiev will lose without shells, and Russian troops will go on to conquer Europe. According to him, today the West is not able to supply weapons and ammunition in the time required by Ukraine, since no one in Europe was ready for a long-term conflict.
- said the Ukrainian minister.
Meanwhile, Europe cannot quickly increase the production of ammunition, since there are no necessary components for this. And no matter how Zelensky and his entourage plead with their sponsors, the West will not be able to supply the required amount of ammunition in the near future.
