Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Ukraine is losing "the best pilots" in anticipation of the delivery of Western fighters
The Ukrainian Air Force urgently needs a supply of Western fighters, preferably F-16s. In the meantime, while waiting for the allies to make a long overdue decision to transfer combat aircraft, Ukraine continues to lose "the best pilots" in battles with Russian fighters. This was stated by the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Sergei Golubtsov.
The Ukrainian general gave an interview to the British edition of The Times, in which he complained about the delay in the process of transferring F-16 fighters to Ukraine. According to Golubtsov, at present, Ukrainian pilots have nothing to fly, obsolete Soviet-made fighters are significantly inferior to Russian ones, but combat sorties continue, Kyiv is losing its best military pilots, waiting for the supply of Western equipment.
At the same time, the general is confident that training Ukrainian pilots to operate the same F-16s will not take much time, training can be completed in a few months, not years, as NATO claims. According to him, two pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force, who in the United States were familiarized with F-16 fighters, can serve as an example.
Golubtsov said.
Meanwhile, Kyiv's Western sponsors continue to ignore appeals from Zelenskiy's office. The United States directly stated that now is not the time for fighters, it is necessary to focus on the supply of ground equipment and conduct a counteroffensive. If it succeeds, then we can talk about fighters, and if not, then why transfer expensive equipment, and even with the risk of falling into the hands of the enemy.
