How Volodya went to The Hague for a win
How useful it is to be friends with Europe and have partners there! Even if these partners prefer to do everything behind their backs. Behind, so to speak. But they can whine and beg for all sorts of useful things. Airplanes, helicopters, tanks, shells ...
Well, or here is such a real win, like an arrest warrant. Well, it’s definitely not in vain that Volodya didn’t even disdain film festivals, although in some places they didn’t give him a word (it’s still too much to get to the Oscars in a sloppy kukhlyanka), apparently, with whom he still talked and nany.
There is a proverb “not by washing, so by skating”, but here there is “not by whining, so by extortion”. Right here in the flesh.
Why all this - we will figure it out at the very end, but it’s generally worth starting with seeing what this order can give at all, and what we are witnessing: a farce or a tragedy?
Here you need to understand that the ICC, aka the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the International Court of Justice at the UN, which is also in The Hague, are two big differences, as they used to say in one big southern city.
The International Court of Justice at the UN - it is clear that this is an organization of the highest order, one of the six main organs of the UN, approved by the UN Charter. But the ICC is something else. The ICC is not part of the official structures of the United Nations, although it can initiate cases on the proposal of the UN Security Council.
That is: real boys in the area gathered in a heap and decided that they would build those who were not with them. On the one hand, it’s normal, why not, on the other hand, the neighboring district doesn’t care, to put it mildly.
It is worth saying that Putin is not the first head of state for whom the ICC issued an arrest warrant. The question is, what came of it?
First. Omar al-Bashir, President of Sudan for 26 years. Came to presidency through a military coup and flew off in the same way. Overthrown and handed over to the ICC. Now everything is in there.
Second. Muammar Gaddafi. Libya. Everyone knows how it all ended, Gaddafi was killed, but the ICC didn’t do anything sideways. Climbing into TU Libya - this, you know, not everyone could afford.
Third. Laurent Gbagbo. President of the Ivory Coast. In 2004, he started a civil war, during which a decent number of foreign peacekeepers died. By the way, he was later arrested, tried within the walls of the ICC, and... JUSTIFIED! And the wife rolled 20 years.
Sudan, Libya, Cote d'Ivoire (former Ivory Coast, if anyone does not know). Just a chic company for the President of Russia. The case when even for such a power, but it's a shame.
But there is a secret here, which only those who themselves lived in the nineties in the nineties in the dismantling of quarter by quarter or district by district know about.
Is it possible to "roll a barrel" on the "watching" neighboring district, behind which there are three times more brigades than on yours? Easy. In your close company, with a beer at a relaxed pace - why not? They won’t hand over their own, so you can walk around the neighbors with all your heart. And even if they surrender - well, who will cut their throats for such trifles?
Everything is exactly the same as in ordinary life. It is clear that Russia today is not what it used to be, but nevertheless, it is not Côte d'Ivoire. But no one was going to do anything there, in The Hague!
Here, in a short historical digression, the whole miserable level of this ICC is shown. Ivory Coast level. The army of which (5 T-55 tanks, two dozen infantry fighting vehicles, etc.) can be split very quickly and without any problems. Which, in fact, happened, after which, taking the president under the mittens, you can drag the sick person to the same The Hague and judge there as much as your heart desires.
Everyone in the area is strong. Fact! Who is in the area anyway? More precisely, who is not there?
There are countries in the world that not only do not recognize the ICC and its Rome Statute, but also send them to hell.
Who do you think is on the list of those who saw all the activities of the ICC far around the corner? China. India. Israel. Iran. Vietnam. Pakistan. Turkey. Azerbaijan. United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia.
Of the 193 UN member states, only 121 have ratified, 31 have signed but not ratified, and 41 have not signed at all.
Well, the icing on the cake is the United States and Russia, who signed in the drunken year 2000, and then withdrew their signatures.
And the most ardent opponent of the activities of the ICC will not believe it - the United States. The US government signed the Rome Statute in 2000 but withdrew its signature in 2002. There are many questions for Bill Clinton, in what condition did he sign, that it was so urgent to withdraw the signature and adopt the Law, according to which if some overzealous figure from the ICC risks arresting a US citizen, he will receive horns from the army and fleet USA. And what will happen to the country on whose territory such a disgrace will occur, let them think for themselves, but preferably not at night.
In addition, the United States has entered into bilateral agreements with a number of countries in which they are obliged not to extradite suspected American citizens to the International Criminal Court, and in case of violation of these agreements, the United States will stop providing them with military assistance and any other support. In the worst case, you yourself understand what will happen.
In general, this ICC operates only where you can pretend to be tough, without fear of getting tinsel from the United States.
In total, members of the ICC sitting in The Hague have received complaints about alleged crimes in at least 139 countries, but only nine situations are currently being investigated by the court prosecutor. Eight of them took place in Africa:
- in the Democratic Republic of the Congo;
- in Uganda;
- in the Central African Republic;
- in the Darfur region of Sudan,
- in Kenya;
- in Libya;
- in Côte d'Ivoire;
- in Mali.
Ukraine was added ninth, greatly embellishing the list.
Now everyone can appreciate the real coolness of the boys from The Hague. It is clear that if you go to the site of this education, you can find a lot of interesting things there. For example, Karim Khan, who, in fact, issued a "recipe" for the arrest of Putin and Lvova-Belova.
“Based on the evidence gathered and analyzed by my Office during its independent investigations, the Pre-Trial Chamber confirmed that there are reasonable grounds to believe that President Putin and Ms Lvova-Belova are criminally responsible for the unlawful deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children from the occupied regions of Ukraine to Russian Federation in violation of Article 8(2)(a)(VII) and Article 8(2)(b)(VIII) of the Rome Statute.”
No, well, a real kid, in the area everyone walks along the line. In Africa, in general, he built everyone, they themselves come and pay tribute ... well, you understand, they give evidence. With the utmost remorse. They take there, in Africa, everyone they want and no one will tell him anything across. Because it's real, yes.
But Russia is in a different area. Because Karim Khan decided at home - it doesn’t mean anything at all in that area. There, as it were, they sit and lay out everything according to concepts. And they can't listen to Karim. And not because of harm, but because it turns out so - every cricket know your hearth, if translated into literary language.
In general, if you really break it down by concepts, then Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and does not bear obligations under it. Accordingly, everything that they come up with in that area is not at all necessary for our perception.
If you take a thoughtful look at which countries are members of this Rome Statute, then apart from Europe, Britain, Australia, Canada and Japan that signed in full force, the rest, like our “allies” from Venezuela and Brazil, do not have much weight.
Therefore, on the one hand, when paying visits to such countries, it is worthwhile to be as careful as possible in movements, but Putin doesn’t really go anywhere anyway. But even in the event of arrival in the territory of a country that has ratified the Rome Statute, it is not a fact that the arrest procedure will be applied against the head of state with subsequent transfer to representatives of the ICC. The same President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, visited Tanzania and South Africa, which ratified the Rome Statute, but was not arrested.
And in general, in terms of impartiality to the ICC, there are a lot of questions. Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq. Where there were crimes - a wagon and a small cart, but for some reason the tough guys from the ICC prefer not to poke their interests there. Because obviously more brave guys from the USA will immediately come and hurt, hurt and unpleasant.
And it turns out that instead of fighters for justice and the rule of law, we have a group of lawless people in our area, who can only drag different fighters for interests from Africa and skin them in their own way.
Interestingly, Putin and Lvova-Belova already have the status of "hiding from justice." Laughter, and nothing more. This is how Vladimir Vladimirovich appears with a glued-on mustache and in a wig, driving a Volga GAZ-21, racing somewhere deep into Russia. Meanwhile, dashing guys from the ICC are breaking their hands, pounding on the door of his office in the Kremlin.
That's for sure "das ist fantastic". both in meaning and content.
But it would be interesting to see how things develop. How will all this happen - the arrest of Putin.
By the way, normal people in Ukraine are also just freaking out over a possible performance, but generally without malice, because they recognize that Zelensky will excite everyone in a region in Europe so well. Not the fact that everyone who can do it with benefit, but made a rustle. Still, being able to show is useful.
But if I were Vladimir Vladimirovich, I would be offended. Put in such a row ... No, Gaddafi was a rather peculiar person, but the leader of his country. And fighting to the end. The rest of the couple - well, so-so. Somewhat not the same company, of course.
But there is nothing to be done, the performance is already underway. It's too late to change roles and actors.
Another question is that in a couple of weeks everyone will already forget about it, because it is already clear and understandable: no one else will do anything in this direction. There is noise, the paper is dirty, Mr. Khan has promoted nowhere further and in historywill most likely enter. At least as a prosecutor who issued a warrant for the arrest of the President of Russia.
And no one will do it. Who has the mind not to be dishonored, who has the instinct of self-preservation to work.
Once again, there will be peace and quiet in the area. Well, you almost all remember how it used to be, don't you?
So this is how Volodya Zelensky went to The Hague. He brought victory, he pleased everyone with the prospect. Whom he amused, whom he encouraged there. Well done, he worked really well for the reprise, he can’t take it away, he knows how.
But here everyday life rolls on ...
