President of Ukraine Zelensky said that after Artemivsk, the Russian army would open the way to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian army would do everything to avoid the complete encirclement of Bakhmut (Artemivsk).
In an interview with the American television channel CNN, Zelensky said that, despite the desire to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers stationed in the Bakhmut area, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will do everything possible to try to unblock the city.
He also added that by delaying the defense of this settlement, the Ukrainian army gets the time necessary to prepare for a large-scale counterattack on the Zaporozhye region, the purpose of which is to cut the land corridor to Crimea and disrupt the logistics of Russian forces.
The retention of Artemovsk is a purely political decision of the Ukrainian regime. Despite the significant losses of the Ukrainian army in this section of the line of contact and the almost complete blocking of all supply routes for the city’s garrison by the Russian PMC Wagner, the Ukrainian command, under pressure from the country’s political leadership, intends to send reserves from other directions to try to unblock Artemivsk, in particular, Kupyansky and Zaporizhzhya.
Left without supplies, Ukrainian servicemen are forced to leave the city in small groups at night through fields and dirt roads, but these actions are hampered by the uninterrupted work of Russian artillery and spring thaw. The militants of the Kyiv regime are often forced to abandon equipment bogged down in the mud, which is literally strewn with the fields adjacent to Artemivsk.
