Le Figaro: Ammunition shortage in France amid deliveries to Ukraine
7
Paris, like many in Europe, faced a shortage of ammunition, trying to help Kyiv at all costs.
According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, referring to a French parliamentarian, the country's army is experiencing a shortage of ammunition, and this is likely to increase disagreements in the country regarding further support for Ukraine.
The publication reports that the deputies of the National Assembly of the country Julien Rancul from the National Rally party and Vincent Bru from the Democratic Movement party prepared a report on the amount of ammunition in the French army.
According to the report, there is a shortage of 155 mm shells in the country's ground forces. The deputies also call for work to be carried out to assess ammunition stocks in case of a major conflict. In addition, they spoke out against minimizing inventories for the sake of economy.
Le Figaro notes that both the country's Ministry of Defense and arms manufacturers recognize this problem, but for too long they have worked based on the logic of peacetime. In other words, France cannot produce more ammunition at the moment.
This situation in the country's armed forces causes discontent among those who are against military assistance to Ukraine to the detriment of France's national defense, the newspaper writes.
