Sudan revised the agreement on the establishment of a naval base of the Russian fleet in the country

Sudan completed the revision of the agreement with Russia on the establishment of a Russian naval base in the country fleet. According to the Associated Press, the situation is in favor of Moscow.

The Sudanese military approved the creation of a base for the Russian Navy in the country, a decision on this was made following a visit to Sudan by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Now the agreement needs to be ratified, this will be done by the new government of Sudan, which will be elected in the near future. Today, power in the country is in the hands of the military, who in December signed a framework agreement with a number of political parties to form a government.

They (Russia) dispelled all our fears. The military agreed to the deal

- said one of the Sudanese officials.

At the beginning of 2021, information appeared that the Russian Navy would receive a new logistics center in Sudan, which would allow Russia to control the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Moscow and Khartoum have entered into a preliminary agreement providing for the construction of a Russian base in Port Sudan. The agreement allowed no more than four ships of the Russian Navy, including warships with a nuclear power plant, to be at the logistics point at the same time. Russia will have to notify Sudan 12 hours before the arrival of its ships and three hours before they leave. According to the project, the number of the Russian contingent in the new MTO point will not exceed 300 people.

The appearance of Russia in this region did not like the United States, which began to put pressure on Khartoum. As a result, the agreement was postponed indefinitely. By the way, Eritrea, neighboring Sudan, has already offered Russia to set up a naval base on its territory.

There are 300 people at the base, which, as I understand it, are purely military.
Service personnel will be recruited from the locals.
For the defense of the object is quite enough.
And four ships, if with missiles, is a serious force.
It seems that Russian diplomacy in Africa has seriously increased.
And the world pays less and less attention to American threats in the world.

4 ships = 2 attack and 2 auxiliary. This is a lump sum, not counting transits. Quite self...
And what will it cost papa Dorsot (i.e. us)?

This decision, according to the Russian leadership, will free up funds for the rearmament and reform of the Russian armed forces.

With all the claims against Putin, he is the president of Russia.
Yes, he was probably wrong when he decided this, but you are probably a very young man and you don’t know what Russia was like in 2001 and what country Putin received from your drunk.
For months, pensions and salaries were not paid to people, instead of gold reserves - debts, the war in the Caucasus. By the way, at that time, my wife and I were in charge of two small children and two sick disabled women. My mother and wife's mother. That's for sure then, most Russians were not up to the bases abroad.
All Putin's fault is that he believed the team that he inherited from Yeltsin and the main task at that time was to keep the country from collapse.
And Putin has been president for only a few months and has no experience, and the advisers came from Yeltsin.
So personally I am not a fan of Putin, but there is such a word - objectivity. That's what I'm trying to stick to, no matter who I'm talking about.

As much as you would like, we have a fleet and continue to build it. But to read carefully and delve into the essence of what is written, you still have not learned. The agreement does say:
The agreement allowed no more than four ships of the Russian Navy to be at the logistics point at the same time, including warships with a nuclear power plant.
And this means that submarines can enter ... for minor repairs, crew changes and rest. There will be no need to drive iron to the base to replace the crew, which will significantly save resources and increase KOH.

only we do not have a navy, as such. The corvettes that are being built are not designed for long trips.

That's right, you need to work for the future. You can't live for one day.

The base point is not a naval base. At this PB, the ships will replenish the MTS and carry out repairs of ships that do not require docking. Drive PM (floating workshop) there, warehouses will be built. According to previously posted photos, it is necessary to build a mooring infrastructure there.
At one time, Tartus was the same PB, and now the Navy. Moving forward is good. But, the Americans themselves confirmed this, trying to put spokes in the wheels for us to form the PB.

The appearance of Russia in this region did not like the United States, which began to put pressure on Khartoum. As a result, the agreement was postponed indefinitely. By the way, Eritrea, neighboring Sudan, has already offered Russia to set up a naval base on its territory.

Finally, the real results of our diplomacy ... Although, if the Russian Federation hit the Yankees in the face (in Syria, for example, or pinned their tail somewhere else), then many countries would already think differently ...

Where are they, these four ships for Sudan?
There are four corvettes for the entire Baltic Fleet, and only three frigates for the Black Sea Fleet ...
Everything else is either still Soviet junk or a trifle like RTOs ......
Given the "unstable" and unstable policy of local authorities, their unpredictable turnover, it is necessary to build a mobile base in order to be able to take the entire base to a neighboring country within 24 hours.

There is political instability in Sudan, the more money is needed, the power is unstable, they also want money right away.
The authorities of Sudan are ready to place a base of the Russian Navy in the country in exchange for economic assistance, a source in the military sphere told RIA Novosti.

He noted that the Sudanese side wants to amend the previously concluded agreement on a military base in Port Sudan before its ratification.

They wrote that the Sudanese, after another change of power, increased the amount of "economic assistance" under the agreement, because of this, the delay was in custody.

Russia will have to notify Sudan 12 hours before the arrival of its ships and three hours before they leave. And Putin has been president for only a few months and has no experience, and the advisers came from Yeltsin.
It's stupid to blame everything on the advisers. The track record of Vladimir Vladimirovich shows that by the year 2000 he had enough competence to make such decisions without any advisers at all.
Since the beginning of 1997 - Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the President of Russia.
March 1997 appointed Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation - Head of the Main Control Department of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, and in May 1998. - First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
25 July 1998. Appointed by Decree of the President of Russia director of the FSB of Russia.
29 March 1999g. Appointed by Decree of the President of Russia Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
From August 1999 - Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Since December 1999 - Acting President of the Russian Federation.

Another thing is that in 2000 we (and our President) sincerely wanted to establish good relations with the Western world in general and with the United States in particular. And as a gesture of goodwill, they closed the bases in Lourdes and Cam Ranh. Everyone already knows what all our attempts and gestures of goodwill led to. And after 7 years in Munich, our President poured out all the bitterness from the fact that our goodwill gestures in the West were taken for weakness in his Munich speech.
The Munich speech is a speech delivered by President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin at the Munich Security Conference on February 10, 2007. The speech was devoted to the unipolarity of modern world politics, the vision of the place and role of Russia in the modern world, taking into account the current realities and threats.

The 295th Sulinsky division consisting of four missile boats pr.1241, and in addition to them a tugboat and some kind of minesweeper.
The "old men" will soon be scrapped anyway, even in the event of another change of power in Sudan, it will be easier to flood them, not a big loss for defense capability.
They are being replaced by new RTOs pr. 22800 Karakurt.
