The American edition called the number of Leopard 1 tanks that Germany is ready to supply to Ukraine

Germany decided to arm Ukraine with German tanks Leopard of the first series, the supply of equipment will come from the presence of the Rheinmetall concern and the Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG) company, which together will transfer a three-digit number of heavy armored vehicles to the Ukrainian army. This is reported by Business Insider, citing an unnamed source.

According to the American edition, already today, ie. on Tuesday, the German government will give permission to Rheinmetall and FFG to transfer 187 Leopard 1 tanks to Kyiv from existing stock. However, not all of these tanks will be able to enter the battlefield, since at the moment it is not known what condition they are in. The total number of armored vehicles available in the two companies is simply named. To date, 88 tanks are in the warehouses of the Rheinmetall concern, and FFG has 99. Recall that the company from Flensburger is engaged in the modernization of military equipment, using the Leopard 1 tank as a base.

According to some estimates, in total Ukraine can receive up to 160 Leopard 1 tanks after repairs, the rest will be used for spare parts. The first vehicles will enter the Ukrainian army no earlier than mid-summer, and no one can say exactly how many tanks will be in the first batch.

Meanwhile, military experts call the transfer of Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine an attempt to shake off obsolete weapons and still make good money at the same time. The tank is not only outdated, but also with a 105-mm rifled gun, shells for which have not been produced for 40 years. It is stated that the tank will create additional problems for the APU with logistics, maintenance and use. However, Zelensky does not care about the opinion of experts, he needs tanks, moreover, Western-made. And what they will be - let the military figure it out, they will fight on them.

I wonder how many Amerzian M60s are around the world? There will be more of these Germans. But in any case, these one and a half hundred can create a problem for ours. If they collect it all in a couple of fists.

no one can say exactly how many tanks will be in the first batch.

in fact, it can ... Der Spiegel writes about 178 Leopard 1 tanks, specifying that the first 24 combat vehicles will arrive at the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine no earlier than summer. Most of these tanks will be transferred only in 2024.

the German government will give permission to Rheinmetall and FFG to transfer 187 Leopard 1 tanks to Kyiv
And how modestly the Germans started. At first they sang that Germany would never hand over its tanks to Ukraine. Then, after a "friendly" conversation held by the Americans, they agreed to 14 "Leopards"2. Then 88 more old Leopards were promised from a broad shoulder. And now Business Insider is already reporting 187. And what will happen tomorrow? In this case, it doesn't matter if 14 or more German tanks hit Ukraine, it's important that they shoot at Russian military units.

      Scholz is being held through
BERLIN, December 22 - RIA Novosti. Representatives of the ruling Green Party in Germany are stepping up pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz and demanding the supply of German-made tanks for Kyiv, Spiegel reported on Thursday, citing politicians.

At the same time, it is no secret to anyone that the "Greens" are:
      pro-American party
German journalist Alexander Rahr characterizes her very accurately
The Greens are very ideological, they are not a party of environmentalists, as many people think, but a party of radical human rights activists. I would even say the crusaders of the ideas of liberal values. They carry their ideals in a militant form to other countries and cultures, they are for color revolutions.
I assume that the people behind Scholz are trying to implement a compromise by supplying such tanks to Ukraine.

Denmark has two hundred of them.

In general, if you take Leopards 1A3-5 and various modifications, then you can milk them and 500 pieces if desired.

The same Canada has 45 C2s in Alberta since 2021 in stock - this is the best Leopard1 in general, with a Leopard2A5 level control system and protection against Taliban RPG-7s. Actually, they pulled the strap well in Afghanistan.
In December 2021, Canada would turn over its remaining 45 Leopard C2s to an Alberta company.

On Tuesday, the German government will announce the issuance of a permit to the Rheinmetall defense concern and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH to supply Ukraine with 187 Leopard 1 tanks. And here I had a very simple and applied question for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Are the Rheinmetall concern and the Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH company already included in the sanctions lists of the Russian Federation? Are Russian companies prohibited from supplying them with steel, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, gas, oil, and making financial transfers to them and to their subsidiaries?
The same applies to dozens of companies that supply weapons to Kyiv. Did the American Boeing, which signed a contract with the Pentagon for the supply of "small-sized high-precision ground-based bombs" (GLSDB), which are supposed to strike on the territory of the Russian Federation to a depth of 150 km, fall under the sanctions of the Russian Federation? Or are the Berezniki Titanium and Magnesium Combine and its shareholders going to continue earning foreign exchange earnings? On the blood of Russian soldiers and peaceful Russian people? How does Vekhovny Commander-in-Chief Putin feel about this? How does everyone think "denyushki"?

As a military man, I can say that the number of Western-made tanks expected to be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is, of course, serious, but not for a broad offensive. 300-350 vehicles is for 2-3 weeks of serious battles... Moreover, in terms of their characteristics, these will be completely different tanks. You can call them modern, but with a very big stretch. It should also be taken into account that such a "zoo" of tanks that is supposed to be transferred is a nightmare for supply and repair services, which also does not contribute to their successful combat use ...
  20. -1
    7 February 2023 18: 50
This whole story with the transfer of Western tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the hopes fueled by Ukrainian politicians that they will help them achieve strategic success in the war are strongly reminiscent of the summer of 1943. Kursk Bulge - Operation "Citadel" ... By the beginning of the above operation, the tank units of the Wehrmacht and the SS massively received tanks "Tiger" and "Panther", self-propelled guns "Ferdinand" and a number of other vehicles. In terms of their characteristics, they surpassed the Soviet KV and T-34 tanks, very high hopes were placed on them ... Hitler, in his appeal to the soldiers of the Wehrmacht and the SS, said "Now you have tanks that not only are not inferior to Russian tanks, but also surpass them ... "As a result, all the new tanks were able to create serious problems for the Red Army, but they still failed to complete the task assigned to the Wehrmacht and the SS ... For during the Battle of Kursk, the Red Army had superiority in tanks and in many other ways. "God is on the side of the big battalions ..." I believe that even if all the Western tanks promised for delivery get to the front, the situation will be approximately the same as it was in 1943 ... In order to hope for strategic success, not 300-350 tanks should be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but at least (!) 2000-2500 units, which is practically impossible in a reasonable and necessary time frame ... For example, the same "Abrams" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be produced no more than 12 units per month. It is no coincidence that the Pentagon made it clear that even the delivery of 31 Abrams for the Armed Forces of Ukraine can only be carried out by the end of 2023 ... With the Leopards, of course, everything is somewhat simpler, but delivering them (in the actually required quantity ...) will be very difficult...

In fact, one simple question arises - by the beginning of the SVO, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had enough of their own, quite modern tanks, there were much more of them than the number of Western tanks supposed to be delivered - where did they all go?
