Polish authorities in March will begin construction of an "electronic barrier" on the border with Russia
The Polish authorities are planning in March this year to begin construction of the so-called electronic barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
According to the Polish state radio company Polskie Radio, a corresponding draft is currently being prepared, which they plan to submit for approval to border guards. It is assumed that the barrier will be equipped with a complex system of electronic sensors and video cameras, which will make it possible to constantly monitor the border without the need for the direct presence of border guards on it. Special sensors are capable, regardless of the terrain and weather conditions, to collect information, process the received data, and then transmit them continuously to the border guard post.
According to the press secretary of the country's border service, Anna Michalska, the electronic system will allow officers to maintain constant border control without leaving the headquarters of the border guard. New detection systems are able to send alerts, the algorithms of which are designed so that border guards can react to possible attempts to cross the border line by real human violators, not wild animals.
It is reported that the corresponding contract for the development and installation of an electronic fence was concluded by the Polish border guard with TELBUD back in 2022.
Currently, the border with the region is being equipped with a barbed wire fence by the Polish border guards. At the same time, according to Polish border guards, the situation in the region bordering Russia remains calm.
