The Pentagon may decide to start serial production of the previously "rejected" light assault vehicle ISV

The Pentagon may give the go-ahead to start mass production of the ISV light assault vehicle for infantry in the spring of this year. Defense News writes about this, citing representatives of the US Army command.

Recall that the tender for the creation of a new SUV for infantry in 2020 was won by General Motors. The contract provides for $214,3 million to produce 649 ISVs by the end of fiscal year 2024.

The material says that a year ago, the Pentagon in its report “rejected” a promising light assault vehicle. The report of the military department indicated that the ISV has extremely unreliable protection and is inconvenient to manage.

In addition, according to Defense News, during the initial tests of the prototype vehicle in 2020-2021, steering problems, engine overheating, insufficient cruising range and a number of other design flaws were identified.

Now, as the article says, after finalizing and passing new stages of testing in the summer of 2022, ISV was re-certified in October.

Meanwhile? The US Army has not tested the new version of the vehicle in conditions as close as possible to combat, but plans to do so during exercises scheduled for November 2023.

At the moment, the Pentagon is preparing to make a decision on the start of serial production of ISV in March or April of this year.

What can you not do for the sake of the American military-industrial complex, especially when something else should stick to your hands.

Yes, money has now poured into the American military-industrial complex as if from a cornucopia, and judging by how rapidly the warehouses of the EU and NATO countries are being emptied of Soviet and European weapons, it is safe to say that for the next decade (at least) the American military-industrial complex will bathe in money .
Well, if you have that kind of money, you can spend it on previously "rejected" products. It's not embarrassing and it's not difficult. hi

    For Ukraine, that's it.

It is cold here, and in Ukraine too, now, a fully open car is not very convenient in such conditions. The dashboard will freeze over, uncomfortable. The old UAZ looks even better.
But, the lever suspension, like a buggy, is good.

What can you say about our Erofey buggy that they experience in Khabarovsk. Now they are testing. Let me just remind you that in January in the Khabarovsk Territory, frosts at night were around -50, during the day they did not rise above -30. Now frosts have fallen at night 23-25 in the afternoon 12-18, but for that a light breeze is such that sometimes it is not possible to stand.
When Americans make such cars, they count on a warm climate. The Middle East, Africa, well, maybe Z.Europe. Why do we try on ourselves right away? Do we suppose they come to us?

I really liked the Khabarovsk car, but if you do it in bulk, then at least with some protection from cold and precipitation.

Still, Americans sometimes wake up cowboy genes and once again they try to make some kind of cart on which it is convenient to drive Indians and other Papuans on a flat surface. Idiocy, of course, is complete ... This car is positioned as an assault vehicle, that is, it must somehow go to some fortifications, and there is not even a question - will it reach it or not. With the current state of development of grenade launchers of various systems and calibers, this tarataika will not even get to the line of trenches, since on the move it is just a target, and when it is standing, it’s even worse ...

This is an analogue of pickups, which are widely used in Ukraine. Infantry is thrown to the front line before enemy fire. First bullets? - further on foot.
ATGMs, MANPADS, cartridges are brought to the buggies.

We need different cars, but we have a UAZ-Patriot and a "Tiger" in the Armed Forces. But, the same UAZ and GAZ produced, and continue to produce, cars with a rigid and at the same time rolled spring suspension, like on carriages of the 18th century. GAS is gradually corrected and moving in the right direction. In the photo, if I'm not mistaken, a car with a linkage suspension, which is already a step forward.
I believed and believe that the army needs specific cars, with a specific transmission and suspension. Cars with a lever suspension like a buggy, and trucks preferably three-axle with rear axle steering.

    Do not understand.
The report of the military department indicated that the ISV has extremely unreliable protection and is inconvenient to manage.
Does anyone see at least some kind of protection in the picture, even unreliable?
The Pentagon can give the go-ahead
    Or maybe not.
We can talk about some simple vehicles for the needs of the army. Need? They are also needed so that trucks do not drive over trifles in rear transportation.

Light and maneuverable, like the cavalry of Genghis Khan. Auto for true hussars.

The Chechen government plans to launch the production of light military "jihad vehicles" on the basis of the Chechenavto plant, TASS reports.

How would yes. An analogue of light cavalry, or rather Dragunov. In principle, humanity goes in circles and considers 3 concepts of troops. Heavily armored, light and somewhere in between. Depending on the stage of technology development, one or the other becomes a priority.

Hmm, a jeep for 300 thousand. American rubles, it's almost like a hammer for the Marines. Which from the military-industrial complex costs 100, and on the market behind the fence 10.
