German authorities plan to allocate 17 billion euros to strengthen missile defense
The German authorities intend to seriously strengthen the country's missile defense. For these purposes, it is planned to allocate about 17 billion euros, as reported by the American agency Bloomberg.
The material says that Berlin aims to create a reliable, multi-layer air defense, in connection with which negotiations are already underway with various manufacturers of the corresponding systems.
In particular, according to information from Bloomberg, the German authorities plan to spend up to 3 billion on the purchase of IRIS-T systems from the German concern Diehl Defense GmbH. Another 4 billion euros can be used to purchase Israeli Arrow 3 systems. Finally, for 10 billion euros, according to the agency, Berlin is going to purchase American Patriot air defense systems.
The timing of the implementation of the above plans regarding the strengthening of Germany's missile defense, not reported. However, Germany is building up not only defense, but also its attacking potential. Earlier, in December last year, Berlin signed a 10 billion contract with Lockheed Martin for the supply of 35 fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II multirole fighter-bombers.
In connection with the sharp increase in Germany's spending on its armies, as well as reports from representatives of the German government that the creation of a multi-layered missile defense system will form the basis of the all-European initiative "Heavenly Shield", special attention is drawn to the recent statement of the country's Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, who said, that Europe is now at war with Russia.
