Experts believe that the British Navy's new mine detection ship can be used for sabotage purposes
The Royal Navy has received a new ship that will soon be used to launch drones and protect British waters from mines. This is how its functionality is officially announced.
The vessel, almost 100 meters long, will be based at the naval base of the British fleet Clyde in Scotland. It will reportedly work side by side with the autonomous naval mine detection systems already in operation by the Royal Navy.
The new ship is actually not entirely new. This vessel was built in 2013 and used for civilian purposes. The country's Ministry of Defense bought it from Island Offshore for about $50 million.
The ship is currently at the Royal Navy's Devonport naval base near Plymouth, where it will undergo refitting and preparation for transfer to the Royal Navy's auxiliary fleet.
Defense Acquisition Minister Alex Chalk said.
As it became known, the converted ship will begin service in the spring of this year.
According to Vice Admiral Paul Marshall, this ship was selected from a variety of options as a result of long research work and will be an important part of the fleet in countering the growing threat posed by mines at sea.
Experts believe that the same British Navy ship can also be used to carry out sabotage activities at sea, including laying mines at a certain depth. He will also be able to use naval Drones.
