Ukrainian drone Bayraktar TB2 filmed the last seconds of its flight after being hit by a Russian anti-aircraft missile
A video of the last minutes of the flight of the Ukrainian strike drone Bayraktar TB2, shot down near the Kinburn Spit. The drone did not survive a hit by a Russian anti-aircraft missile.
The video was filmed by the camera of the drone itself, a voice-over said that this happened last Monday, January 23. The Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 was spotted and hit by the Russian Buk-M3 air defense system at night, judging by the 8 second video. The downed drone entered in a dive and rushed to the ground.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine did not use Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones for quite a long time, especially for attacking Russian positions and armored vehicles. The past months of hostilities have shown that with properly organized air defense, this UAV is a fairly easy target for anti-aircraft systems. The Russian troops managed to almost completely knock out the Bayraktar TB2.
However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine still had a few units, plus those donated from Poland and Lithuania, so about a week ago there was information that two Bayraktar TB2s were seen in the area controlled by Kyiv in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, monitoring our positions without approaching them. Then a number of TG channels reported that one of these drones was shot down, but did not specify where or how. It is now clear that one of the Bayraktar TB2s flew in the area of the Kinburn Spit, where it conducted reconnaissance.
Meanwhile, Turkey has stopped supplying drones to Ukraine under contracts, explaining this by its role as a "peacemaker" in which it wants to reconcile Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, Baykar handed over a pair of Bayraktar TB2 UAVs to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry three days ago.
