Ukrainian drone Bayraktar TB2 filmed the last seconds of its flight after being hit by a Russian anti-aircraft missile

A video of the last minutes of the flight of the Ukrainian strike drone Bayraktar TB2, shot down near the Kinburn Spit. The drone did not survive a hit by a Russian anti-aircraft missile.

The video was filmed by the camera of the drone itself, a voice-over said that this happened last Monday, January 23. The Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 was spotted and hit by the Russian Buk-M3 air defense system at night, judging by the 8 second video. The downed drone entered in a dive and rushed to the ground.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine did not use Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones for quite a long time, especially for attacking Russian positions and armored vehicles. The past months of hostilities have shown that with properly organized air defense, this UAV is a fairly easy target for anti-aircraft systems. The Russian troops managed to almost completely knock out the Bayraktar TB2.

However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine still had a few units, plus those donated from Poland and Lithuania, so about a week ago there was information that two Bayraktar TB2s were seen in the area controlled by Kyiv in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, monitoring our positions without approaching them. Then a number of TG channels reported that one of these drones was shot down, but did not specify where or how. It is now clear that one of the Bayraktar TB2s flew in the area of the Kinburn Spit, where it conducted reconnaissance.

Meanwhile, Turkey has stopped supplying drones to Ukraine under contracts, explaining this by its role as a "peacemaker" in which it wants to reconcile Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, Baykar handed over a pair of Bayraktar TB2 UAVs to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry three days ago.

And why is the camera so strangely located - a significant part of the view is covered by the case

The camera is located on the keel. It is peculiar there - it converges at one point. The camera is fixed there.

        So I say it's weird.
Turks are not stupid. And "English scientists" were hardly involved in the creation of a drone.
There must be a reason for this decision.
Aerodynamics is not an argument here - it is not difficult to cover the lens with a transparent fairing.

Why is there so much banter around British scientists? No, I understand, ours shine, there are all sorts of discoveries there, applied inventions ... It’s not clear why in the 21st century T-62s go into battle at the same time. But this is for any British scientists to blame!

If you have thousands of tanks in storage, then upgrading a little and using them is the right idea. So many do.
And the Britons did not even send modernized ancient armored personnel carriers.

The Turks are definitely not fools, unlike the "British scientists", because the UAV operator needs to look forward, and not at his back ... I guess
They write that the MX-15D Wescam allows you to see the target up to 53 km

Dima, hello, you made a mistake, "The camera is located on the keel" - no,
see diagram and location of the MX-15D Wescam module. He's on the fuselage.

Not a single diagram of Bayraktar on the Internet indicates a video camera on the keel.
There is one camera for all, from below, swivel, as it should be logically for a budget shock drone
On the video it is very similar to Bayraktar, and the camera is clearly on the keel.
It seems to me that the Ukrainians independently improved the drone in order to see the attack from above and in front. Although what good is it if they see it - anyway, the slow, clumsy drone will not dodge.
Indirectly, this version is confirmed by the fact that the picture was intercepted. Unlike the native camera of the drone, the transmission from this camera was not encrypted.

That's right. And they could fix it on the fuselage. And even better - under. This is not a Mig-25, it does not develop three Machs, in general, there is no need to take special care of aerodynamics. And the TV picture would be much better (they put cameras just for the picture, so they could take care of its quality :))

The Turks themselves guessed. The main camera is fixed under the fuselage. You could consider it first. There are plenty of photos of these devices on the internet.

Well, in principle, you can understand that the UAV was flying in the usual mode, caught the ZR and went down - but yes, I agree, the video is generally uninformative, it is very difficult to figure out what happened and how. It's probably not worth posting this, it's more annoying - 8 seconds, 2 of which are logos -_-

I agree, it's not informative. But on the other hand, if the video was published by our side, then apparently the camera and the memory card are still with us, and not with Banderlog. So everything was interesting, after all, our guys pulled out of this bayraktar after the discovery of the wreckage.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine use them for reconnaissance OLS TB2 allows you to determine targets at a distance of 50+ km. They do not have enough forces and means to deliver strikes + our air defense is quite effective.
They have orders for 5 years in advance, factories do not have time to build.

Yes. European countries were forced to cede their supplies to Ukraine. Considering that it is necessary to put Akyndzhi, TB3 and Kyzylalma into the series, they have a serious shortage of production capacities. Another plant is needed in Europe.

The main thing is to save the lives of our soldiers, as a result of the actions of this flying creature, directly or indirectly!
Directly, from the impact of his weapons,
indirectly, as a result of intelligence.

The cost of destroying a self-produced missile cannot be high, because much of its enormous value is the taxes that are paid at every stage of production from ore extraction to final assembly. Those. before the rocket leaves the gates of the assembly production, most of the money will have time to return to the budget.

probably the moderator will tell me - there is little information, but as an operator of project 5.2.1 I would like to ask - how much does a rocket cost? Big fat rocket? I had 9 people in the calculation, and for each I would be ready to give 2 or even 3 missiles. Complex "Hurricane"

I can guess an order of magnitude. Bayraktar, as they say, was shot down by a rocket from Buk. A similar American rocket RIM-7, judging by Wikipedia, has a price of 165 thousand dollars. Let's say a rocket from Buk is half the price. It turns out 80 thousand dollars or 5,5 million rubles.

Of course, you were ready to give up any number of missiles. You didn't buy them at your own expense.

Well, if there is a familiar air defense specialist, he would immediately say - a subsonic small-sized target - for any air defense system - easy prey - with normal calculation training. Like anti-ship missiles "Harpoon" or "Tomahawk"
