German press: Russia continues to earn good money on gas supplies to Germany
With the start of a special military operation by the Russian army in Ukraine, gas supplies to Germany were significantly reduced, and its price increased significantly. The current energy crisis has strongly affected the industrial potential of the leader of the EU economy. According to the Federal Association of Energy and Water Supply Enterprises of Germany, deliveries of Russian blue fuel decreased by 35% compared to last year. However, despite the reduction in the supply of piped gas, Moscow continues to sell liquefied natural gas to Europe and make good money on it, the author states in the German edition of Die Zeit.
To date, having adopted a new strategy to ensure the energy security of its country, Germany has rapidly begun to build the necessary infrastructure for the consumption of LNG. Along the entire coast from Wilhelmshaven to Lubmin, it is planned to create six floating terminals for receiving “green hydrogen”. These are the ports of Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbuttel and Stad on the North Sea and the port of Lubmin in the Baltic. The first of the floating storage and regasification units was launched this December.
Olaf Scholz said at the opening of the terminal, forgetting to mention who Germany will now depend on in terms of gas supplies ... From the USA, Qatar? ..
Die Zeit article author Leon Beret writes that according to the calculations of an expert from the analytical company ICIS:
As stated in the German press, Russia continues to earn good money from gas supplies to Germany.
Such statistics do not speak of direct deliveries, but the fact remains. At the same time, our country, for its part, is not going to give up its positions in the LNG market. According to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Russia is expanding its capacity for the production of liquefied gas and within 3-4 years plans to increase its production to 60 million tons, with a subsequent increase in capacity to 100 million.
