The Pentagon intends to actively use the architecture of open systems for electronic warfare

Undersecretary of the US Army Gabe Camarillo said he was very impressed with the military's implementation of the C5ISR modular set of standards. This platform will allow American soldiers to connect modules to enhance networking capabilities and expand electronic warfare functions.
According to Breaking Defense magazine, a US military official spoke about this at a meeting this week on the means of technical data exchange used by the US army.
Camarillo said that today the United States Army is facing a number of problems regarding the need to increase the capabilities of electronic warfare. The deputy minister said that the Pentagon intends to actively use the architecture of open systems for electronic warfare, as it is able to unlock "limitless potential" for solving the problems facing the military.
He presented to journalists his thoughts on accelerating the implementation of these opportunities in practice. Camarillo said the army needs to develop software designed to identify and eliminate all electronic warfare threats that the military may face on the battlefield. He also noted the importance of using a modular approach when introducing new solutions.
The issue of developing and creating open systems for military electronics has been raised at the Pentagon before. A memorandum relating to this issue was signed by representatives of the Navy, Air Force and US Army at the beginning of 2019.
