Heroes Day of the Fatherland in Russia

Every year, on December 9, people in Russia are honored who are true patriots of their Motherland. A hero is not just a title or an order. The person who has been honored with it is a model of courage, honor and selflessness.

Officially, this memorable date has been enshrined in the legislation of Russia since 2007. However story The holiday has its roots in the reign of Empress Catherine II.

The honorary title was awarded to the military commander for courage and bravery shown during the 2008 Georgian campaign.

However, not only holders of the Order of St. George the Victorious are honored today. This date is dedicated to all our compatriots awarded the highest state awards.

According to tradition, on this day a solemn reception is held in the St. George's Hall of the Kremlin, to which the Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, as well as holders of the Orders of St. George and Glory, are invited.

In addition, thematic celebrations are taking place all over Russia today: exhibitions, concerts, actions, etc. Students of schools and universities are told about the Heroes of our Fatherland and shown patriotic films.

It is worth noting that our Heroes invariably appeared during each armed conflict in which our country participated. The NWO in Ukraine was no exception.

In general, from 1992 to 2022, more than 1100 of our compatriots received the highest award of the Hero of Russia. At the same time, many of them gave their lives for their Motherland.

As mentioned above, the Hero is not just an honorary award. Thanks to these selfless people, we understand what true love for the Motherland is. They are an example for the next generation.
