The fighters of the “Somalia” battalion in the Avdiivka direction near Peski thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian counteroffensive. At the same time, they were supported by the Sparta unit.
This was reported on the WarGonzo Telegram channel and on other resources of the military reporter Semyon Pegov.
The offensive was carried out by units of the 35th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the support of armored vehicles. The attack involved two tank and several infantry fighting vehicles.
As a result, the attacks were stopped. As the commander of the first assault company "Somalia", Hero of the DPR, Guard Captain Roman Vorobyov ("Sparrow") told reporters, the Ukrainian military lost two infantry fighting vehicles and up to a platoon of their fighters. He does not rule out that more equipment was burned, but he names only those losses that he managed to confirm.
The fight was fierce. The officer of the NM DPR suggests that this was far from the last attempt. He said that for the fourth day in a row the enemy was trying to capture the position "Cross", the extreme height on the approach to Vodyany. According to him, whoever controls it controls Vodyanoye.
Earlier, our troops with great difficulty managed to take the village of Peski, located near Donetsk, so they are not going to give it back to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From here, Ukrainian artillery shelled the capital of the DPR.
