German Chancellor Scholz: I urged the President of Russia to withdraw troops from the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible
The head of the German Cabinet of Ministers, Olaf Scholz, spoke in a report on the government's website about the content of his telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the chancellor, the conversation lasted an hour and was devoted to the situation in Ukraine. The conversation took place on the initiative of the German Chancellor himself.
As Scholz noted, he condemned Russia's actions in Ukraine, primarily missile attacks on the country's civilian infrastructure. The head of the German government also told the Russian leader that Berlin would continue to support the Kyiv regime militarily.
The chancellor told Putin that Moscow should find a diplomatic solution to the situation as soon as possible. He called on the President of Russia to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, which, of course, also means that part that is already included in the Russian Federation on the basis of general referendums by decision of the majority of the population of these territories ...
But there was time in the conversation for questions not related to hostilities. So, Scholz and Putin discussed the food situation in the world. Both leaders noted the important role of the extension of the grain deal under the auspices of the United Nations (UN). The Chancellor and the President agreed that they would continue to maintain contacts.
In turn, Putin reminded Scholz that the West is playing a destructive role in the Ukrainian conflict. In particular, the supply of weapons to the Kyiv regime only contributes to the further escalation of the conflict. He called on Germany to reconsider its approach to events in Ukraine.
In addition, Putin explained to Scholz that Russia had not attacked Ukraine's vital infrastructure for a long time. But the Kyiv regime itself, with its provocative actions and terrorist acts against Russian facilities, forced Moscow to switch to such tactics.
As you can see, the leaders of Russia and a number of Western countries maintain business contacts and discuss the situation in Ukraine, trying to find common ground. But so far, the views of the Russian president and European leaders are diametrically opposed in many respects.
