70 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Azov militants are going to be tried in Donetsk
In the near future, 70 servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine, including from the 36th separate marine brigade, and militants of the Azov nationalist battalion (recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation and banned in the Russian Federation) will face trial in Donetsk. Criminal cases against these persons, after the completion of the investigation, were transferred to the city courts.
All the defendants committed war crimes of varying severity. For this, they must bear the responsibility established by law. Back in July, it became known that more than 100 Ukrainian prisoners of war were placed in pre-trial detention centers. Then the Minister of Justice of the Donetsk People's Republic, Yuri Sirovatko, did not rule out that, after being convicted, they could be involved in the restoration of the cities of the DPR destroyed as a result of hostilities.
- cited TASS of the interlocutor of the agency who reported on the progress of the case.
In general, more than 5 Ukrainian prisoners of war are being held on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. Among them are militants captured in Mariupol after the storming of the Azovstal plant. There are 2439 such people. According to the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, a tribunal should judge Ukrainian nationalists and military personnel involved in war crimes against civilians and Russian soldiers. The head of the region also did not rule out the international nature of this tribunal.
Now it remains to be hoped that the criminals will suffer a well-deserved punishment, and will not be exchanged. Indeed, as an "exchange fund" it is possible to use those prisoners of war in respect of whom their involvement in war crimes has not been established. Killers of civilians and tormentors of Russian prisoners of war should not be quietly released. Recall that earlier, under rather vague circumstances, the leaders of Azov* were interned in Turkey, including militants with the call signs Radish and Kalina, for whom relatives and representatives of the Kyiv regime especially asked before Erdogan and the Pope.
