Kyiv is looking for an opportunity to replenish stocks of anti-aircraft missiles for the remaining S-300 systems
The stocks of anti-aircraft missiles available in Ukraine to the S-300 systems, left over from the Soviet Union, are running out, and soon the remaining anti-aircraft systems will not be able to perform their intended tasks. Therefore, Kyiv began to look for missiles on the side. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
According to the Ukrainian minister, the S-300s have shown their best side, but the stocks of missiles are coming to an end. Ukraine itself does not produce such missiles; Kyiv got the complexes from the stocks of the Soviet army. To date, the only manufacturer of missiles for the S-300 is Russia, but there are still countries that also have similar systems in service. It is to them that Ukraine intends to turn.
- Reznikov said at a briefing with Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles in Odessa.
Ukraine is also awaiting the arrival of S-300 anti-aircraft systems and Tor-M1 air defense systems from Greece, which the United States is now negotiating, promising the Greeks Patriot anti-aircraft systems in return.
Earlier, the Pentagon reported that they had signed a contract for the supply of six NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine, although Kyiv would receive them only two years later, after the new systems were produced.
