The Pentagon signed a contract for the purchase of six NASAMS SAM batteries for Ukraine, an agreement was signed with Raytheon worth more than $1,2 billion. This is stated in a statement by the press service of the US Department of Defense, announced the day before.
News The fact that the United States will supply six more NASAMS SAM batteries for the Armed Forces of Ukraine caused joy in Kyiv, which turned out to be premature. The thing is that these complexes do not yet exist, they still need to be produced, and this will take time, two years, according to statements made by the Pentagon. This was also confirmed by the official representative of the US military department, Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, who announced the delivery of air defense systems to Kyiv "in a couple of years."

It is clarified that the contract includes the production of air defense launchers, related equipment, spare parts, as well as training Ukrainian military personnel to work with these systems.
The NASAMS SAM launchers for Ukraine will be assembled at an enterprise in Tewkesbury, Massachusetts. The estimated completion date for the work is November 28, 2025, but the Pentagon intends to reduce these deadlines, it is still unknown how.
Recall that two batteries of NASAMS air defense systems have already been delivered to Ukraine, the crew of one of the complexes of this air defense system has already managed to "distinguish itself" by slamming an anti-aircraft missile into a civilian object.
