The former head of the CIA predicts the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine by negotiations, but "not at the moment"
At present, the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, are not yet ready for negotiations. But the armed conflict will still end with negotiations. This opinion was expressed by the former director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) David Petraeus to the German newspaper Tagesspiegel.
According to the general, the leaders of the United States and the European Union, as well as other countries, will work with both Russia and Ukraine to develop and implement a peace solution. But it will only be "when the time is right". Why it didn't come at the moment, Petraeus didn't say.
However, it is already clear that one of the main tasks of the United States in this conflict is to weaken Russia as much as possible in military-political and economic relations, as well as to squeeze the maximum benefit for its military industry from the sale of American weapons. Apparently, so far in Washington they believe that they have not yet fully achieved their goals.
