Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy confirmed the transfer of a batch of BMP-1s to Ukraine as part of a round-robin deal with Germany
The Ukrainian army was replenished with 30 more Soviet-made infantry fighting vehicles, a batch of BMP-1s was transferred to Ukraine by Slovakia. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Yaroslav Nagy.
Bratislava supplied Kyiv with 30 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles from the presence of the Slovak army in exchange for German Tanks Leopard 2A4, the deal was concluded in the middle of the month. According to the Slovak Minister of Defense, all the equipment is already on the territory of Ukraine, when it got there, he did not specify, he simply confirmed the transfer and thanked German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht "for cooperation."
- Nagy wrote in one of the social networks, adding that the delivery took place as part of a circular deal with the participation of Slovakia, Germany and Ukraine.
On November 15, 2022, the Slovak military department, on the one hand, and the German Ministry of Defense with the Rheinmetall group, on the other hand, signed an agreement under which Slovakia will receive 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks that have been overhauled with modernization. This armored vehicle was previously in service with various countries, after being decommissioned, it was bought by Rheinmetall and brought into combat readiness. In return, Bratislava undertook to supply Kyiv with 30 BMP-1s from the presence of the Slovak army.
Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received another 30 Soviet-made infantry fighting vehicles, in what condition the equipment is not yet known.
Earlier, the Germans signed a similar agreement with the Czechs, offering them 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks and one BPz 3 Büffel ARV as compensation for the T-72M1 tanks previously transferred to Ukraine.
