The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus confirmed the information that the head of Belarusian diplomacy Vladimir Makei died today.
The press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anatoly Glaz said that Vladimir Makei died suddenly in Minsk.
In the comments to the post, many Belarusians express their condolences to the family and friends of Vladimir Makei, rightly noting that he gave the impression of a cheerful, energetic and healthy person.
Vladimir Makei, who was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in 2012, was 64 years old.
Vladimir Makei graduated from the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. He gave more than 10 years of service in the Soviet Army. He retired with the rank of colonel. After the collapse of the USSR, he went to study at the Academy of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from which he graduated in 1993. The Belarusian opposition accused Vladimir Makei of having changed his political views after the elections in the Republic of Belarus, which, according to the so-called BCHB, were at first "anti-Russian".
Vladimir Makei spent the last months of his life under Western sanctions. All sorts of reasons were announced - including "support for Russia's actions."
