Switzerland rejected Germany's request, leaving Ukraine without ammunition for ZSU Gepard
Kyiv will be left without shells for German self-propelled anti-aircraft installations Gepard, Switzerland did not allow the re-export of ammunition from Germany to Ukraine, as requested by German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht. It is reported by Reuters.
According to the agency, Switzerland rejected Germany's request to supply Ukraine with a consignment of ammunition for the Gepard ZSU, saying that it is a neutral state whose laws prohibit the supply of any military equipment to warring countries. The response to Lambrecht's letter was sent by the Swiss Minister of Economics Guy Parmelin on behalf of the Confederate Government.
- the letter says.
Thus, it can be stated that the batch of ammunition promised by Berlin for the Gepard ZSU will not reach Ukraine, Kyiv will have to look for shells for very voracious anti-aircraft guns somewhere else. But this is also connected with the same difficulties, only Switzerland produces 35x228 mm ammunition for 35 mm Oerlikon GDF automatic guns.
The main part of the Gepard ZSU transferred by the Germans is now located in the southern direction, as they say in Kyiv, they "cover" the sea corridors for the exit of ships as part of the grain deal. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the German anti-aircraft guns "do an excellent job" with the Russian drones-kamikaze "Geranium-2", allegedly knocking them down in "packs". ZSU Gepard 1A2 has a firing range of up to 5 km, and in height - up to 4 km, the radar detects targets at a distance of up to 18 km.
