Merkel reiterated the possibility of building security in Europe only together with Russia
Former German chancellor Angela Merkel made a new statement about the security architecture in Europe. During the solemn ceremony in honor of the anniversary of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, founded in 1945, Merkel announced that the Cold War, as it turns out, has not yet ended. At the same time, the ex-“chancellor” noted that the Cold War would not end until one of the most important principles was implemented.
Angela Merkel:
According to the former head of the German government, one can reflect as much as one likes about President Putin's statements that "a world in which there is no Russia cannot exist," but the fact is that these words should be heeded.
Angela Merkel adds that these words of the Russian president should not be defined solely as a bluff.
Merkel pointed out that Vladimir Putin, as is well known, did not engage in bluffing in terms of sending foreign countries. Almost everything that he previously spoke about has either already been implemented or has taken place to one degree or another.
Thus, Frau Merkel, for the second time in the past few days, has said that the building of a European security architecture must be carried out jointly with Russia. But at the same time, Merkel does not say the main thing: Europe is not independent in its decisions today, and the United States, which completely controls the EU, is clearly not set up to ensure that Europe is a priori safe, and even when establishing partnerships with Russia.
Merkel's words have already been commented on in Kyiv. Podolyak, adviser to the head of Zelensky's office, spoke with small-town ambition and rudeness towards the German politician, for whom such a tone is becoming the norm. He called Merkel "creeped out to urge everyone to listen to what Putin says." Recall that earlier the same person in the same tone commented on the peace initiative expressed by Elon Musk.
