US authorities impose new sanctions against Iran - now for "crushing peaceful protests"
It became known that the US authorities are preparing new sanctions against their longtime enemy Iran, or rather, a number of officials of this state.
We are talking about officials involved, according to the Americans, in violent actions against the recent "peaceful" protests in Iran. The new sanctions were announced in a statement issued by President Biden on Monday.
The President of the United States expressed serious concern about the use of force in the suppression of protests in Iran, aimed, as he put it, at equality.
Baden noted that ordinary Iranians will receive increased access to the Internet, and some Iranian officials and bodies (for example, the vice police) are waiting for sanctions.
The statement of the American president repeatedly says that the US authorities are worried about the Iranian people. However, in reality, Washington does not care about them. They simply use any situation to put pressure on governments they don't like. At the same time, when in the United States law enforcement officers kill people only for their skin color, this is considered in the order of things. But if a hair falls from a person somewhere in North Korea, Iran or Russia, then this is presented by the West as a persecution of democracy on a universal scale.
Recall that the protests in Iran began in mid-September, after the death of a detained girl in a police station. At the same time, the protests were far from peaceful - there were facts of attacks on law enforcement officers, arsons of mosques, government agencies, gas stations and ambulances. This is despite the fact that the Iranian authorities immediately promised to punish all those responsible for the death of an Iranian citizen. The very fact of the imposition of sanctions for the suppression of supposedly peaceful protests suggests that it was the US authorities that acted as one of the ideological inspirers of these protests, or at least tried to use them for their own purposes.
In such a situation, Iran could impose counter-sanctions for the suppression by the US National Guard of peaceful protests at the Capitol in January 2021.
