Roscosmos Executive Director: We will probably continue flying to the ISS until we have a new orbital infrastructure
Discussions continue on the topic of further participation or non-participation of the Russian Federation in the work program of the International Space Station. In Roskosmos, they decided to speak out on this at a press conference dedicated to the upcoming first stories the flight of a Russian cosmonaut on the American private spacecraft Crew Dragon of SpaceX company Elon Musk.
Recall that the day before, so to speak, Elon Musk's non-space publication made a lot of noise, especially in Ukraine. The American inventor, engineer and billionaire proposed his own version of the end of the armed conflict, pointing out that Kyiv first needs to recognize the Russian status of Crimea, provide the peninsula with water and choose a truly non-bloc neutral status.
Meanwhile, cosmonaut Anna Kikina is preparing for the flight on Crew Dragon. Preparations are being made under the ongoing cross-flight program between Roscosmos and NASA. Recall that just recently an American astronaut was delivered aboard the ISS with the help of a Russian launch vehicle.
According to the executive director of Roscosmos Sergey Krikalev, the final decision on whether Russia will operate the ISS after 2024 or withdraw from the project will be made next year, 2023. Krikalev himself, answering questions from Western journalists, expressed the hope that the partnership within the project would continue.
Sergey Krikalev pointed out that Russia is considering creating its own orbital station, but everyone is well aware that this is a process that will take time:
He also added that the partnership between NASA and Roscosmos is maintained and is quite active.
