The President of the Russian Federation signed decrees recognizing the independence of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions
Russia recognized the independence of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, the corresponding decrees were signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin the night before. Both decrees have already been posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Russia recognized the independence of two former Ukrainian regions - Zaporozhye and Kherson. This is a necessary procedure before the acceptance of these regions into Russia. The regions had previously declared their independence from Ukraine, after which they held referendums to determine their future fate and chose to join the Russian Federation. In February, Moscow recognized the independence and sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics. So now everything is in accordance with international law - four independent territories are part of Russia.
- the decree says. The text of the second is similar, only in relation to the Kherson region.
The final entry of new territories into Russia will take place today, September 30, during a solemn ceremony in the Kremlin. Previously, Putin will hold meetings with all the heads of the new regions, after which agreements will be signed on the entry into Russia of all four territories where referendums were held and which have applied to Russia with a corresponding request.
As the State Duma announced the day before, the new regions will retain their status, i.е. Russia will grow with two republics and two regions, which, together with Crimea, will form a new federal district - Crimean. At least that's what it claims.
