Russia convenes UN Security Council on alleged explosions on Nord Stream gas pipelines
Russia has initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Baltic Sea. The main issue that the Russian delegation plans to raise is related to the alleged explosions on two gas pipelines - Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Recall that the seismic service of Sweden announced about the explosions, adding that the registered underwater tremors have nothing to do with natural seismic activity.
Recall that in the account of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski, who has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019, after the start of the gas leak at Nord Stream, a short entry appeared: “Thank you, USA” in English. In this regard, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharov, asked the question: does this mean the recognition of a terrorist act on gas pipelines carried out by the United States?
In the European Union, meanwhile, they are talking either about “sabotage” or about “possible sabotage”. The authorities of Poland, which opened its own gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic Sea the day before, blame Russia for the explosions. Allegedly, this is a "signal" to the fact that "an explosion can also occur on the Polish gas pipeline." But it didn't happen... Kyiv has traditionally joined the accusations against Russia.
Meanwhile, the Russian side, calling for the convening of the UN Security Council, initiates consideration of the situation in all seriousness. If sabotage has occurred, it is not difficult to establish with the help of which the explosions were carried out, how saboteurs or special underwater vehicles ended up in the waters of Sweden and Denmark.
To date, gas leakage in the Baltic Sea continues. The pressure of the gas that comes out of the holes of the Nord Stream is not weakening.
In this regard, a ban has been introduced on navigation within a radius of 10 km from the places of leakage.
