The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry explained the statement that "the Russians are fleeing the EU from responsibility"
The head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that official Vilnius would not abandon its course of blocking Russian citizens from entering the EU. Gabrielius Landsbergis stated that "the Lithuanian position in this regard will remain unchanged."
Head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry:
These words of Landsbergis caused a resonance in Lithuania itself, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this Baltic country had to explain his position.
According to Landsbergis, “under the flight from responsibility” he understood “an attempt to escape from the opportunity to fight against the Kremlin.”
Lithuanian Foreign Minister:
Against this background, attention is drawn to the statement of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, who said that Hungary does not support the course of individual EU countries to refuse to issue Schengen visas to Russians and block entry into Europe.
Szijjarto:
In this regard, Europe was predicted to tighten controls at internal borders, and even to a greater extent than it was during the peak of the pandemic. In such a situation, it becomes increasingly difficult to call the EU a full-fledged union. Even one example - the positions of Lithuania and Hungary in relation to the Russians are extremely far from each other.
