The head of EU diplomacy could not unequivocally answer the question of what sanctions would be imposed against the Russian Federation "for holding referendums"
The head of the EU foreign policy commissariat, Josep Borrell, said that the European Union opposes holding referendums in the Donbass, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. According to Borrell, Brussels will introduce new sanctions against Russia in the event of a referendum. Also, according to Borrell, the EU will continue to provide military assistance to Kyiv.
Borrel:
When journalists asked Borrell what kind of sanctions Brussels was preparing to impose against Russia, he could not give an unequivocal answer, limiting himself to general phrases that “there will be sanctions, they are being discussed.”
Against this background, the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, once again stated that the further promotion of sanctions against Russia would be "a shot, if not in the head, then in the leg for the European Union." According to Orban, up to 40% of all industrial enterprises in Europe may stop in the coming winter, which will provoke an unprecedented economic crisis.”
New sanctions against Russia were supported not only by Borrell, but also by a number of heads of EU countries. Of course, among the first are the authorities of Poland and the Baltic republics. In Germany, they announced "the condemnation of sanctions for holding a referendum."
The plebiscite on the territories liberated from the Kyiv regime will begin tomorrow, on September 23. Remember that it will last until the 27th. In the ballots of the DPR and LPR there will be a question about reunification with Russia, and the ballots of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will contain questions about the withdrawal of regions from Ukraine with simultaneous accession to the Russian Federation. In the event of a positive outcome of the referendums, the Sea of Azov will become the inland sea of Russia, the Russian Federation will grow in significant territories and several million citizens.
