Ukrainian press: Zelensky intends to change the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to the Ukrainian Internet resource Telegraph, the President of Ukraine plans to appoint General Syrsky, who currently heads the ground forces, as the commander-in-chief of the country's Armed Forces. According to other information, Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, may take the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the resource, the current Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny will be offered the post of Minister of Defense. On the one hand, this may seem like an increase, but on the other hand, if you look at the intricacies of Ukrainian defense legislation, this is in fact a significant reduction in the possibility of direct influence on the army. According to the laws of the country, the head of the military department must be a civilian, and, therefore, Zaluzhny will have to leave the army.
Telegraph notes that the reason for the dismissal of Zaluzhny from the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not any hostile relations between him and President Zelensky, but the point here is banal jealousy.
The publication refers to one of the people's deputies of Ukraine, who explained the reason for the possible departure of Zaluzhny from his post with the words "victory must have one father."
At the same time, as Telegraf writes, despite the fact that Zaluzhny is against such a rotation, it will still take place in the near future. At the same time, if Zelensky intends to appoint Zaluzhny to the post of Minister of Defense, then he will have to remove Mr. Reznikov from his post.
The official authorities of Ukraine have not yet commented on the information about the possible change of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
