The Ukrainian military said that he was defending Chernihiv so that "the Russians would not destroy McDonald's"
Why don't Ukrainian soldiers explain their participation in hostilities? So, in one of the Telegram channels, a young soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) tells why he is going to defend Chernihiv "to the last drop of blood." No, neither fear for relatives, nor nationalist convictions, and even hatred of Russia not imposed by the West, are the main motivation of the young Ukrainian military man.
The guy is going to fight so that the Russians, having occupied Chernihiv, do not destroy McDonald's. The security and financial well-being of the American diner is, without a doubt, a “worthy” goal to lay down one's life for.
- the Ukrainian soldier asks.
The young guy seriously considers the diner one of the symbols of a prosperous and well-fed life, which, unknowingly, he associates exclusively with the West. The military grew already in post-Soviet Ukraine, where this thesis was actively cultivated and planted.
Meanwhile, there is no laughing matter here: consumer values were actively approved by the West and then used to destroy the national sovereignty of many states. Were there many of us who, for jeans, chewing gum and the same McDonald's, were ready to give up the status of a great power, from developed industry and science?
Fortunately, Russia has been ill with this disease. The departure of American fast food was accepted by Russian society almost without any problems. And not all (unfortunately) American fast food has left the Russian market.
