South Korean Air Force F-4E fighter jet crashes over the Yellow Sea

18

The South Korean Air Force reported the loss of one combat aircraft. According to the military, an F-4E fighter crashed over the Yellow Sea, the pilots ejected.

According to available information, the F-4E fighter of the South Korean Air Force participated in the exercises. The crash occurred over the Yellow Sea, about 35 kilometers from Seoul. The pilots ejected, there is no information about their condition. At the moment, the command does not comment on the crash of the aircraft, conclusions will be made after establishing all the circumstances of the incident. F-4E fighters are in service with the 153rd Fighter Squadron of the 10th Air Wing from Suwon.

Note that the South Korean Air Force (Republic of Korea Air Force, ROKAF) for 2020 included 69 F-4E Phantom II multi-role fighters. Currently, the aircraft are being withdrawn from service and are being replaced by modern ones. For example, the 17th Fighter Wing, based in Cheongju and flying F-4Es, has been re-equipped with American F-5A 35th generation fighters. However, despite the almost depleted resource, some of the fighters are still in use.

The first F-4D fighters entered service with the South Korean Air Force in 1969 and served until 2010. The F-4E modification entered service in September 1977. Also in service with South Korea was a reconnaissance modification of the RF-4C aircraft, the last "scouts" were withdrawn from service in 2014.

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a two-seat, long-range, third-generation fighter-interceptor bomber. The aircraft has been produced since 1958, more than five thousand aircraft were produced in total - this is the most massive fighter produced in the USA. F-4 Phantom II was actively used in various conflicts of the twentieth century, in particular in Vietnam, in numerous conflicts in the Middle East.

The Yankees have long removed their phantoms from service, and spare parts in warehouses could well remain. Yes, and you can also order from McDonnell Douglas

      And the Iranians.
Moreover, both F-5s and F-14s fly from Iran.
And soon there will be Su-35SE.

      Diagnosis: "died of senility"

There is no "old", "new" in aviation. Within
The assigned resources are all the same. And the failure rate is constant - it is by this parameter that the resource is assigned.
The intensity is maximum immediately after production (this part must be worked out by the manufacturing plant), then it is constant (this is operation), then it starts to grow (up to
this moment the car is written off). Sometimes they even extend it. Like retirement age. laughing

In recent years, Phantoms have flown only to test advanced instruments and equipment on them - like a flying laboratory. Now they are being replaced by F-35s and aircraft of their own production.

It looks like the Chinese have cheered up the region. And the US allies are starting their own victory. The first one went without a fight. This theater (if any) of military operations can draw in the entire region.

Carried a heavy load and was very reliable, and, they say, good at driving. B-52 smokes even more, but it survived everyone! And the Tu-160 does not smoke, but "gases" with nitrogen dioxide in the afterburner mode, which is already all orange.

The aircraft of the aggressor. He did not play any protective role of any state. This is the club of US foreign policy.
