German politician: Only 5 out of 15 PzH 2000 self-propelled guns delivered to Ukraine are in service
As part of military assistance to Kyiv, Germany sent 10 PzH 2000 self-propelled guns to Ukraine, and the Netherlands provided five more self-propelled guns. However, they could not help the Armed Forces of Ukraine much. Bundestag deputy from the FDP party Markus Faber personally visited Ukraine from 3 to 10 August, visiting Kyiv, Kharkov, Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. During the inspection, the German politician unexpectedly learned that ten self-propelled guns were already out of order. Moreover, not at all because of the Russian artillery strikes.
The vaunted German quality did not stand the test in real combat conditions, as a result, two-thirds of the Panzerhaubitze 2000 simply broke down "due to heavy use." The spare parts that come with the guns, according to the German politician, "are not always suitable for current repairs." In addition, many howitzers are so damaged that they require major repairs, which can only be done in a special workshop.
- Faber said in an interview with the German television channel N-tv, specifying that "not a single self-propelled gun was destroyed by Russian shelling."
The German politician, impressed, among other things, by visiting the front line in the Donbass, where “the Russians are still moving forward,” demanded an increase in military assistance to Ukraine now.
- considers the German deputy, without thinking at all: what if something happens then Germany will fight?
Faber also called for urgently handing over German tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. True, just in case, he made a reservation that although the Ukrainians are asking for a modern Leopard 2, the Leopard 1 will do for them, because “a tank is better than not a tank.”
