German Chancellor Scholz called for the continuation of gas supplies from Russia
Russia can take over a turbine repaired in Canada for the Nord Stream gas pipeline, as well as continue gas imports to Germany. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking at a press conference in the country's capital Berlin.
According to Scholz, the turbine has been repaired and is ready for operation. Therefore, Russia has every opportunity to continue gas supplies to European countries.
Scholz said.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Germany states that a significant reduction in Russian gas supplies to European countries is due to the consequences of the sanctions that the European Union previously imposed against our country. The West itself is to blame for the current energy crisis, and the lack of gas and oil is a direct consequence of the ill-conceived policy of European states towards Russia.
For example, earlier Poland stopped gas supplies via the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. Ukraine also began to reduce the volume of transit through its territory. Germany itself stopped the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, preventing its launch and depriving itself of additional gas supplies.
In addition, the Russian diplomatic mission in Germany noted that before taking the turbine repaired in Canada, Moscow must obtain confirmation that this equipment will not fall under the sanctions of the European Union, as well as Great Britain as the supplier of the turbine and Canada as the party repairing it. Without official documents confirming the “non-sanctioned” status of the turbine, Gazprom will not accept it. Also, he will not send other turbines for repair.
Interestingly, Germany had every opportunity to become one of the largest gas hubs not only in Europe, but also in the world as a whole. Instead, the German leadership, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, built a policy that turned the FRG into a country experiencing a serious shortage of gas. For example, Berlin opposed the launch of Nord Stream 2, citing the fact that the capacities of Nord Stream would be enough to provide the European Union with gas. As it turned out, it wasn't enough. But in Berlin, even now, they stubbornly refuse to understand this.
The situation with the turbine is another example of the irresponsibility of the German authorities. Due to the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union, there were obstacles to the return of the turbine to the Russian Federation. Only the deteriorating situation with gas supplies forced Canada to return the turbine to the German side.
The energy crisis, in turn, could have a very negative impact on German industry. Many industries will be stopped, the unemployment rate will increase, and the quality of life of the population will decrease. But political ambitions and a desire to please Washington turned the German authorities into players playing against their own people. If the German authorities do not change their policy in time, which is very doubtful, then the country's economy will be dealt a severe blow.
