Russia transferred a batch of combat aircraft and helicopters to Mali
Russia continues to strengthen its position in Mali, the day before this African state received Russian military assistance. The official handover ceremony was held at the airport of the capital of the state of Bamako.
Russia handed over to the Malian military several aircraft and helicopters, in particular Su-25 attack aircraft and combat training L-39, Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack transport helicopters. In addition, CASA C-295 transport aircraft were transferred. The ceremony was attended by the president of the transitional period of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goita, the Minister of Defense of the country, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mali, Igor Gromyko, the Prime Minister of Mali, Shogel Maiga, and other officials.
- said the Minister of Defense of Mali, Colonel Sadio Camara.
It is worth noting that over the past year, Russia has significantly strengthened itself in this state, ousting the French from there. In May of this year, Bamako broke an agreement with Paris on military cooperation, accusing the French authorities of pursuing a neo-colonial policy that runs counter to the interests of the people. Now the French must withdraw all their troops from the country's territory within six months.
Instead of the French army, Russian military advisers and "musicians" from the Wagner PMC are now in Mali. It is they who are preparing the Malian army.
