Russia temporarily withdraws its facilities from inspection under START

Russia withdraws from inspection activities all its facilities subject to inspection under the Treaty on Strategic Offensive Arms (START-3). As stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry, this is a temporary measure, Russia is committed to complying with all the provisions of the agreement.
Russia informed the United States of its decision to temporarily stop the admission of foreign inspectors to its facilities under the New START. This decision was made after the United States imposed sanctions against Russia, effectively banning Russian inspectors from conducting inspections on its territory. Russia several times asked to establish a violated parity, but did not receive an answer. The Americans, not wanting to correct this situation, expressed a desire to continue to check our facilities, but not allow the Russians to theirs. Now that opportunity is closed to them.
The Russian Federation is now forced to resort to this measure as a result of Washington’s persistent desire to implicitly achieve a restart of inspection activities on conditions that do not take into account existing realities, create unilateral advantages for the United States and effectively deprive the Russian Federation of the right to conduct inspections on American soil.
- stated in the message of the Foreign Ministry.
Moscow stressed that the solution is temporary, and as soon as the United States "solves all the problems" associated with the normal work of the inspection commissions, Russia will remove all the restrictions imposed.
Recall that the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START-3) expires in 2026. The United States has expressed a desire to extend the treaty or conclude a new one, but while all Washington's actions indicate otherwise, the Americans want to get a lot, but at the same time give almost nothing.
