The KFOR international peacekeeping force is based in the former Yugoslavia and is led by the North Atlantic Alliance. They also include the Ukrainian military, but now Kyiv is withdrawing its peacekeeping contingent from Kosovo.
This is reported in the Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of today, there is a national contingent of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kosovo, Republic of Serbia, consisting of 40 military personnel. The return of the national contingent will mean a temporary termination of their participation in the KFOR mission
- told there.
At the moment, the Ukrainian leadership is dealing with the issues of their return to their homeland, where a Russian special military operation is currently taking place. This was preceded by a decree issued by President Zelensky, which was adopted in early March. It refers to the suspension of the participation of Ukrainian military contingents and civilian personnel in international peacekeeping missions.
The situation in Kosovo, which officially belongs to Serbia but has declared itself an independent state, has escalated since the beginning of this month. The reason was the decision of the Kosovo authorities to ban entry into the region on Serbian documents and on cars with Serbian numbers.
