Head of the European Commission: EU countries should prepare for a complete cessation of gas supplies from Russia

EU countries should prepare for a complete cessation of gas supplies from Russia. Such a tough scenario is evidenced by a significant reduction in gas exports to Europe by the Russian side.
This was stated by the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen in an interview with the German news agency DPA.
The official is confident that gas supplies from Russia "sooner or later" will be completely stopped by Gazprom.
Europe must be prepared for the worst
says Mrs. von der Leyen.
She points out that the Russian company is keeping the occupancy of its European gas storage facilities low. According to the chairman of the EC, this is done intentionally so that Moscow can put pressure on European countries. In addition, 12 EU states are completely cut off from Russian gas supply.
In connection with the reduction in gas supplies from Russia, von der Leyen calls on the EU countries to reduce the consumption of this type of fuel by 15 percent by next spring, that is, by 45 billion cubic meters. And the ultimate goal, the official believes, should be Europe gaining full energy independence from Russia by 2027.
The European Commission has prepared a strategy for saving energy from the Russian Federation by July 20 if it suddenly refuses to supply them.
