The increased activity of militants in Mali is associated with the possible actions of NATO intelligence services
According to reports from the command of the Malian army, another attack on a military camp in the center of the country was prevented.
Early on Sunday morning, a terrorist tried to attack the National Guard camp in the city of Sevare, which is located in the central part of the country. The attacker was reportedly neutralized. There are no military casualties.
A senior official from the Sevare camp, who wished to remain anonymous, said the situation was under control.
Two days before this attack, there was a suicide attack on the military in the city of Kati in the southwest of the country. The attack was carried out on two mined cars. The military managed to respond in time to this attack, but still one soldier died. According to Malian authorities, the attackers were from the Katiba Makina group associated with al-Qaeda (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation).
In recent months, the Mali army has stepped up its operations against the militants, relying on the support of Russian instructors.
Mali, which has traditionally been considered a sphere of influence of France, is increasingly moving away from it. Despite the deterioration in the security situation, the country's authorities have moved away from France and other international partners and began to cooperate more closely with Russia. The state authorities do not rule out that the growth in the activity of terrorist cells may turn out to be a derivative of the work of NATO intelligence services in the country.
