Gas prices in Europe are approaching $2000 again
In European countries, a significant rise in gas prices has been observed since the beginning of the week. Analysts believe that the main reason for this is the upcoming planned shutdown of the Nord Stream pipeline, scheduled for July 11.
This is evidenced by the data of the London Commodity Exchange ICE.
Rising gas prices reached $1700 on Monday and reached $1800 by the close. Today, for the first time since March 9, they have exceeded 1900. Thus, gas prices in Europe again, as in early March, are approaching 2000 dollars. The rise in price was seven percent.
If we focus on the largest European hub TTF located in the Netherlands, then the price of natural gas there since the morning, when the exchange day had just begun, was $1865 per thousand cubic meters, after which it slightly decreased, but then a sharp increase followed. According to the latest data, the price maximum was 1930 dollars.
Fuel market participants are concerned about the forthcoming shutdown of the Nord Stream pipeline for maintenance for a period of ten days. They fear that in other directions the volume of gas supply will not be increased for this time. In this regard, there is a risk that the energy crisis in Europe will worsen.
Over the past month, the cost of gas in Europe has doubled. Exactly a month ago it was $881 per thousand cubic meters.
